Tour Overview: This tour will cover the historic elements of Bienville Square in Mobile, Alabama, from the colonial era through the present day. The tour will follow a chronological narrative beginning with Native American and colonial History. As the tour progresses, visitors will observe how Bienville Square changed throughout the nineteenth and twentieth centuries and learn the significance of various buildings, people, and events in the History of the square. The goal of this tour is to educate visitors on the History of Bienville Square and highlight its significance in Mobile’s History and culture. Further, visitors will be encouraged to view Bienville Square through the lens of the History of the United States as a whole, observing how various movements, such as progressivism, influenced Bienville Square throughout its History.
Tour Itinerary: The total time for the tour is 45 minutes to an hour. This is ample time to cover the History of Bienville Square and allows for time for visitors to explore the surrounding locales in Downtown Mobile following the tour.
